Situations that trigger cravings
Some situations can trigger thoughts and cravings for alcohol. These types of situations can include:
- family events
- festive parties
- weather
- TV and films with alcohol or drug use
- music associated with using drugs or alcohol
- work pressures
- relationships
- loss
- isolation
- being in a place where drugs and alcohol are being used by others
- meeting up with people who are intoxicated
- certain times of the day
It can help to:
- plan what you'll say when someone offers you a drink
- practise conversations that you think could be difficult or triggering for you
- find other things to fill your time
