Long COVID support in Stockport

Stockport ME Group

Stockport ME Group is a user-led independent charity that aims to help and empower people with ME/CFS, Long COVID, Fibromyalgia and related conditions. They also work with carers of people with those conditions.

They vary their activities according to the needs and requests of members, funding, and volunteer capacity.

Current activities are:

  • monthly programmed Zoom sessions at 11am on the second Friday of the month. These sessions are usually with a speaker or facilitator on a particular topic but are sometimes peer support. They aim to be relevant to almost anyone with ME/CFS, Long COVID or Fibromyalgia. Details of the session are always available on their website, so you know if it's right for you
  • a Heart Rate Monitor Research Project, recruitment to take part is now closed
  • informal face-to-face meetings usually once a month
  • a closed Facebook Group with about 230 members. Anyone with ME/CFS, Long COVID or Fibromyalgia and family members can join
  • other workshops and events depending on funding and interest, such as gentle yoga, art and craft, and pacing
  • one or two monthly online informal meetings

Other support available:

  • through professional membership of Benefits and Work they can make these guides available to their members. You can find out more on the Benefits and Work website
  • information and advice. They'll always be able to provide relevant signposting and tap into their community to find answers and recommendations of what's worked for others. Depending on volunteer capacity they may be able to provide a small amount of more direct support such as advocacy
