Support for under 18s
If you're under the age of 18, visit our help and support for children and young people pages to find information and advice on mental health.
Support for over 18s
You can:
- visit the Open Door mental health daytime Safe Haven in the centre of Stockport. Visit the Open Door Facebook page for updates on the Safe Haven opening times. Call 0161 549 9717 before visiting if you can
- call the Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust Mental Health helpline any time on 0800 014 9995
- sign up to Kooth for those aged 10 to 25 years old or Qwell for those aged 26 years old and over. You can talk to a qualified professional or other people in the community
- call Stockport Support Hub on 0161 474 1042 Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm. They can help with your wellbeing, connecting with your community, support at home, access to transport, finances or support with caring responsibilities
- talk to your GP or self refer to Viaduct Care Wellbeing and Self Care Service on their website. They can help you improve your mental and physical health and wellbeing, including support with long term physical health conditions. They also support with finding community activities and support groups in your local area
- meet the Prevention Alliance team, available every Wednesday from 9:30am to 4pm at Stockport Homes, 2 Edward Street, SK1 3NO
- call the Prevention Alliance team on 0161 474 1042 Monday to Friday from 9am to 4:30pm. If you're deaf, text 0753 9468560
- visit the Stockport Local website to find a list of groups who may be able to support you

Arts for Recovery in the Community (Arc) for support with mental health and social isolation through a variety of arts for wellbeing programmes. Visit the Arc website

Walthew House for emotional and practical support for those with sensory loss. Visit the Walthew House website
Marple Men’s group: a Zoom call every Wednesday at 9pm with other men in the area. Call 07951 973792
Men’s Walking Group: a weekly walk for men only. Call 0161 494 9947
Mentell: a safe and confidential space for men aged 18 or over to talk. For more information, visit the Mentell website

There are many resources you can use to find out more helpful information, such as:
Pennine Care NHS Foundation Trust: online and talking therapies, which you can sign up to on the website or by calling 0161 716 5640
SilverCloud: online therapy, with programmes that can help ease stress levels, improve sleep or build resilience. Visit the NHS website to sign up
Self Help Services: online programmes completed in your own time. This can be face to face, over the telephone or as part of a group or workshop. Visit the website or call 0161 480 2020
Shining a Light on Suicide: resources and support for anyone concerned about suicide
Stay Alive app: useful information and tools to help you stay safe in crisis. You can use it if you are having thoughts of suicide or if you are concerned about someone else who may be considering suicide. Download the Stay Alive app from your app store
Pure Innovations Talking Therapies: one to one therapy sessions, either face to face, virtually, or over the phone if you are struggling with mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression. Complete the referral form on the website
