Invitation to NHS cancer screening
Cancer screening programmes are aimed at people who do not have symptoms of cancer. They can detect cancers at an early stage and in some cases even prevent them from developing in the first place.
If you do have symptoms that you're concerned about, visit your GP. For example; a breast lump, unusual bleeding. Do not wait until you're called for screening.
In Stockport, like the rest of the UK, we've 3 national screening programmes:
- breast
- cervical
- bowel
To be invited for cancer screening you must be registered with a GP.
