Online testing for sexually transmitted infections (STIs) for young people

All sexually active young people aged between 16 and 24 are being encouraged to be tested for chlamydia and gonorrhoea.

Chlamydia is the most common diagnosed STI in the UK and is particularly common in sexually active teenagers and young adults. It's passed on through unprotected sex (sex without a condom) and it often has no symptoms, so people can be unaware that they have it. If left undiagnosed and untreated, it can lead to long-term consequences including pelvic inflammatory disease and infertility.

Brook offer online chlamydia and gonorrhoea tests to Stockport residents aged between 16 and 24. The tests (and treatment if required) are easy to access, confidential, free and painless.

How it works

  1. order a test kit online
  2. the test will be sent out by post
  3. send your sample back to the lab for testing
  4. your results will be sent via text or phone

If you have symptoms or are concerned about any other aspect of your sexual health, you can contact the local specialist sexual health service.
