NHS Health Checks
The NHS Health Check is a free check up of your overall health. It can tell whether you are at higher risk of getting health problems such as:
- stroke
- kidney disease
- heart disease
- type 2 diabetes
- dementia
You’ll be given advice on how you can prevent them. You’ll be invited for a free NHS Health Check every 5 years if you’re between 40 and 74 years of age and do not already have a pre-existing condition.
NHS Health Checks in Stockport are provided by your GP and you should receive a text or letter inviting you.
If you’re not sure if you’re eligible for an NHS Health Check and would like one, or if you're eligible and have not had one in the last 5 years, you can contact your GP surgery for an appointment.
