The 5 ways to wellbeing can help you feel better in a number of ways. It’s good to keep them in mind every day.
Feeling more connected to your community
- search for local groups or local events to get to know people in your community
- volunteer to help with something you care about. You can give as much or as little of your time as you want. Visit the Volunteer Hub website to find out about volunteering opportunities in Stockport
- join the art pen pal scheme run by Arc, where you can be matched with someone to share creative projects with. Email volunteering@arc-centre.org if you're interested in having a pen pal.
Get advice
If you’d like to speak to someone in Stockport on how you can feel more connected to your community, you can:
- contact your GP and ask about the Viaduct Wellbeing Service
- get advice from the Stockport Support Hub by filling out the form on the website
- if you’re still feeling overwhelmingly lonely, consider talking to your GP. They'll be able to explore other options available to you
Support for older people
- the Stockport College community care letter exchange scheme can connect you with students to write to. Email michelle.mclaughlin@tcg.ac.uk for more information
- Independent Age can connect you with a volunteer who is good company and wants to chat. You can sign up to receive regular phone calls by calling 0800 319 6789. Lines are open Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 6:30pm
