Support for family and friends

The consequences of taking drugs go much further than just affecting the user themselves. It can cause stress and emotional strain on family, friends and concerned others.

It can be a long journey but there is support available for the people using and for those who care about them.

The Stockport Triage, Assessment and Referral Team (START) can provide you with support and information to help you understand what your loved one is experiencing and what can be done to help them.

Support for children

Children, whose parents or carers are using drugs or alcohol, may also need some support and someone to talk to. It’s important that children have access to a safe, confidential environment where they can discuss their feelings and emotions.

Mosaic

Offer children a safe and confidential space to express their concerns and emotions. They also provide information and advice about the impacts of drug use and help children to understand the impact of drug misuse and how to deal with it.

Children can access this support even if their parent or carer is not accessing treatment.
