When you should see your GP
You should make an appointment to see your GP if;
- you notice a sudden change in your heartbeat
- your heart rate is consistently lower than 60 or above 100 - particularly if you're experiencing other symptoms such as dizziness, shortness of breath or chest pain
You should speak to your doctor about your abnormal heart rhythms if;
- your palpitations last a long time, don't improve or get worse
- along with palpitations you start to feel faint or dizzy
- you have a history of heart problems
- you're concerned about the palpitations
Your GP will be able to talk to you about your symptoms and whether you need an ECG to assess your heart rate rhythm.
