Asthma is a long-term condition that affects your breathing. Symptoms include:

  • breathlessness
  • tightness in the chest
  • coughing
  • wheezing

The goal of treatment is to be free from symptoms to let you have a normal active life. Treatment and avoiding things that make your asthma worse can help to achieve this.

A Personal Asthma Action Plan includes all the information you need to manage and look after your asthma well to have less symptoms and reduce your risk of an asthma attack. Your GP or asthma nurse will help you complete this.
